Manchester City Yas Residences breaks ground on Dh15bn Abu Dhabi waterfront project
More than 2,000 homes planned across a sprawling Yas Canal community
ABU DHABI – Abu Dhabi’s Dh15 billion Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana has officially moved into construction, marking a major milestone for the branded waterfront community on Yas Canal.
Ohana Development has also opened a dedicated Experience Centre, giving prospective buyers and investors an immersive look at the project’s masterplan, residences, interiors and waterfront setting. The development is planned for phased delivery through 2029.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together senior executives from Ohana Development, City Football Group and the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), including Husein Salem, CEO of Ohana Development; Mustafa El Sammak, COO; Ferran Soriano, CEO of City Football Group; Sultan Al Memari, Acting Executive Director of ADREC’s Real Estate Regulation Sector; and Ahmed Salem, General Manager of Ohana Development.
Manchester City Yas Residences
Manchester City Yas Residences by Ohana represents Manchester City’s first branded residential development globally. The club’s identity will be incorporated throughout the community, spanning its architecture, amenities and resident experiences.
Covering 1.67 million square metres, the project will feature more than 2,000 residences. The planned portfolio includes four- and five-bedroom standalone villas, twin villas, townhouses, maisonettes, waterfront penthouses and apartments.
The community is positioned along Yas Canal, next to Yas Island and close to major attractions including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. Its location places the development within one of the capital’s key leisure and lifestyle destinations.
Ohana Development CEO Husein Salem said the groundbreaking and opening of the Experience Centre were key milestones in bringing the project to life, while reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to Abu Dhabi and its real estate market.
City Football Group CEO Ferran Soriano described the construction launch as a significant milestone for Manchester City, noting that the development is the club’s first branded residential project.
Manchester City training academy
A Manchester City training academy will form one of the development’s central features, with football fields, tactical and fitness training areas and immersive experiences focused on the club’s history.
Residents will also have access to the City Lounge, City Café and marina sports club, alongside facilities for kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing.
The development is designed with a strong focus on wellness, incorporating advanced fitness centres, spas, infinity pools and dedicated recovery facilities. Planned services include hydrotherapy, cryotherapy and oxygen therapy, as well as spaces for mindfulness.
Green spaces
More than 55% of the masterplan will be allocated to landscaped gardens and green spaces, adding extensive outdoor areas across the waterfront community.
The newly opened Experience Centre is intended to give visitors a detailed introduction to the development, including its masterplan, residential options, design features, finishes and location along Yas Canal.
