RTA adds 5 new bus routes, upgrades 9 existing ones in Dubai
Expanded network designed to meet rising public transport demand
DUBAI’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the introduction of five new public bus routes and the enhancement of nine existing ones, effective Friday, 29 August 2025.
The initiative responds to increasing demand for public transport, supporting the city’s expanding population and urban growth.
Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, highlighted the authority’s vision, stating that the RTA “is continuously committed to expanding and developing public bus services to support Dubai’s public transport network, in harmony with the Emirate’s population growth, urban expansion, and progress witnessed across all sectors.”
The new routes are designed to offer faster and more efficient connections between residential, industrial and business districts, while the modifications to existing routes will improve daily mobility and enhance integration with other transport systems.
What’s new?
Route 31: Dubai Outsource City – Dubai Silicon Oasis
A direct connection between Dubai Outsource City and Dubai Silicon Oasis, operating every 20 minutes during peak hours.
Routes 62A and 62B
The current Route 62 has been split into two. Route 62A will run between Al Qusais Industrial Area and Al Qusais Metro Station, while Route 62B will link Al Qusais Metro Station to Ras Al Khor – Samari Residences. Both will operate every 30 minutes at peak times.
Route F26A: Onpassive Bus Station – Al Quoz Industrial Area 4
A new feeder service to improve passenger mobility in Al Quoz Industrial Area, with buses every 30 minutes during peak periods.
Route X91: Al Ghubaiba Bus Station – Jebel Ali Bus Station
An express service linking Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Jebel Ali Bus Station. Unlike the current Route 91, it will not stop at Business Bay Metro Station. Passengers travelling to Business Bay from Al Ghubaiba should use the modified Route 91, operating every 30 minutes.
How are existing routes changing?
From Friday, nine bus routes will be adjusted to enhance connectivity and reduce travel time:
- Route 7: Converted from a circular into a two-directional service between Al Quoz Bus Station and Al Satwa Bus Station.
- Route 91: Shortened to cover Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Business Bay Metro Station.
- Route F62: Changed from a circular into a two-directional service between Emirates Metro Station and Nad Al Hamar.
- Route 77: Converted into a two-directional service between Baniyas Square Metro Station and Al Garhoud.
- Route X25: Shortened to operate between Al Karama Bus Station and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
- Route 50: Will continue linking International City Bus Station and Business Bay Bus Station, but will no longer serve Dubai Outsource City. Adjustments within International City are planned for a later phase.
- Route 21A: Shortened to run between Al Quoz Bus Station and Al Ghubaiba Bus Station.
- Route 21B: Shortened to run between Al Ghubaiba Bus Station and Al Quoz Bus Station.
- Route J01: Rerouted within Jumeirah Village Circle.
The RTA emphasises that these developments aim to make public transport the first choice for residents and visitors in Dubai. By refining bus routes and launching new services, the authority seeks to improve access to metro, tram and marine transport, offering a smoother and more interconnected travel experience.
