DUBAI has opened its first cycling trail dedicated exclusively to children, offering families a new outdoor option focused on safety, learning, and active play.

Located within Mushrif National Park, the Young Rangers Cycling Trail is the first child-focused cycling route of its kind in the Middle East. Access is restricted to children under the age of 12, ensuring a stress-free environment away from adult riders.

The 1.5-kilometre trail winds through Mushrif’s forest landscape, with dense Ghaf trees providing shade and a calm natural setting. The design allows children to ride independently while parents observe from nearby areas, creating a balance between freedom and supervision.

Trail features

The route includes multiple purpose-built elements aimed at developing essential cycling skills. Balance beams help children practise stability and control, while arch hoops encourage precise steering.

Wooden rollers support smooth transitions, and gentle side-sloped turns introduce safe cornering techniques. Log rolls and soft limbo-style features add variety, while small rock garden zones expose riders to light terrain changes that build coordination and confidence.

Access details

Young Rangers Cycling Trail is open daily from sunrise to sunset and is free for all visitors. No advance booking is required, making it easy for families to include cycling in their regular routines. The park setting also allows children to combine physical activity with time outdoors, away from traffic and crowded urban paths.

Youth sports

The opening aligns with a broader calendar of youth-focused sporting activities in the city. January features the Rashid and Latifa Duathlon, open to children aged two to 13, combining cycling and running events.

Alongside youth competitions, Dubai’s winter sports schedule also includes multiple fitness events for adults, reflecting the city’s growing emphasis on active lifestyles across all age groups.
