UAE and Czech Republic deepen ties with focus on space collaboration
Bilateral partnership expanding into science, technology, and innovation
ABU DHABI – The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United Arab Emirates, Josef Koutsky, hosted a reception in the capital to celebrate his nation’s Independence Day while spotlighting the growing cooperation between the two countries – particularly in the field of space exploration.
The event took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Abu Dhabi and was attended by senior officials, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the Czech community in the UAE. Among the attendees was Omar Al Neyadi, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as representatives from the Czech government and the wider diplomatic corps.
In his remarks, Ambassador Koutsky commended the robust and enduring partnership between the Czech Republic and the UAE, noting the shared commitment of both leaderships to enhance their strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.
Focus on space cooperation
Ambassador Koutsky emphasised the space sector as a cornerstone of bilateral collaboration, citing strong engagement between Czech institutions and the UAE Space Agency, alongside the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre.
He explained that the Department of Space Activities at the Czech Ministry of Transport, in collaboration with several leading Czech aerospace companies, is actively pursuing partnerships with specialised Emirati organisations. These efforts aim to expand research, innovation, and technology exchange within the UAE’s rapidly evolving space industry.
“These joint efforts reflect our shared vision for progress and innovation in space exploration,” said Ambassador Koutsky. “By combining our scientific expertise and technological capabilities, we are contributing to the advancement of the space industries in both our countries.”
Expanding economic relations
The Czech envoy also pointed out that economic relations between the Czech Republic and the UAE continue to strengthen, with the Emirates emerging as one of Prague’s largest economic partners in the Middle East.
This growing partnership has extended into various fields, including trade, technology, investment, and education, underscoring the comprehensive and forward-looking nature of UAE–Czech cooperation.
The ambassador reaffirmed his nation’s commitment to deepening these ties, highlighting that collaboration in innovation and advanced industries will remain a central focus in the years ahead.
