Community spirit shines as residents gather for National Month celebrations
DUBAI – In a vibrant celebration of national pride, the Al Etihad Parade brought citizens and residents together along Jumeirah Road today in one of the key highlights of the National Month celebrations marking the 54th Eid Al Etihad.
Organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with the Dubai Events Security Committee, the parade unfolded as a dynamic tribute to the UAE’s 54-year story of unity, progress and ambition.
The event formed part of the wider National Month campaign launched last year by Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
Featuring more than 500 cars decorated in patriotic colours, the parade began at Union House, the historic site where the declaration of the Union was signed in 1971.
The route stretched all the way to Burj Al Arab, symbolising the nation’s evolution from its formative milestones to its modern achievements. Volunteers, supporting the event through the Community Development Authority (CDA), distributed over 1,000 UAE flags to participants, adding a sea of colour along the beachfront avenue.
Al Etihad Parade
This year marks the first edition of the Al Etihad Parade as an official component of National Month, with the celebrations having commenced on Flag Day on 3 November. The programme also includes the #ZayedAndRashid campaign, which honours the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and their fellow Founding Fathers. Their enduring legacy serves as the central narrative behind this year’s commemorations, inspiring community engagement across Dubai.
The parade showcased strong collaboration between Brand Dubai and the Dubai Events Security Committee, reflecting Dubai’s integrated approach to managing major public events. The Committee ensured smooth coordination throughout the procession, with participants adhering to the guidelines set for safety and order along the busy Jumeirah stretch.
Community spirit
The involvement of volunteers played a significant role in energising the atmosphere, as the CDA highlighted the value of volunteerism in strengthening social cohesion. Their contribution added a personal touch to the celebration, reinforcing the sense of belonging shared across diverse communities taking part in the National Month activities.
Car owners participating in the parade displayed their enthusiasm through creative expressions of national pride, from elaborate decorations to coordinated formations along the route. The moving convoy became a collective reflection of Dubai’s dynamic character and the UAE’s long-standing commitment to unity.
As the parade reached its endpoint near Burj Al Arab, the event emphasised not only the country’s journey since 1971 but also the commitment of institutions, residents and volunteers to celebrating the UAE’s development.
