Dubai gold rates drop Dh15 as global prices rebound from six-month low
Silver climbs as investors watch global market shifts
DUBAI – Dubai gold rates continued to attract attention on Thursday, as jewellery prices in the emirate reflected a sharp decline from the previous sessions.
The Dubai Jewellery Group’s suggested retail gold jewellery prices showed lower rates across all categories, following movements in international gold markets.
Gold remains one of the most closely watched commodities in Dubai, where daily price changes influence jewellery buyers, traders and investors.
Dubai gold rates
According to the Dubai Jewellery Group, 24K gold was priced at Dh491.75 per gram on Thursday, down from Dh506.50 on Wednesday, Dh522.25 on Tuesday and Dh519.75 on Monday.
The 22K rate fell to Dh455.25 per gram from Dh469.00 on Wednesday, while 21K dropped to Dh436.50 compared with Dh449.75 a day earlier.
The 18K category declined to Dh374.25 per gram from Dh385.50, and 14K slipped to Dh291.75 from Dh300.75.
Global market
International gold prices recovered on Thursday after touching a six-month low, as investors returned to the market while awaiting fresh US inflation data. Spot gold increased 0.5 percent to $4,095.64 per ounce after earlier falling to its lowest level since 21 November at $4,022.09.
The US gold market remained focused on economic indicators, particularly the upcoming producer price index data, which could provide further clues about the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook. A stronger dollar and expectations around future rate decisions have continued to influence gold demand, as higher interest rates typically put pressure on non-yielding assets.
Global sentiment was also shaped by renewed tensions between the United States and Iran. Fresh air strikes between the two countries and US President Donald Trump’s warning of further action added uncertainty across markets. Oil prices moved higher after Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz following US strikes, raising concerns over energy supply routes.
Higher crude prices have increased inflation concerns, keeping gold in focus as investors assess its role as a hedge against rising prices. At the same time, stronger inflation pressures could influence interest rate expectations, creating further movement in bullion markets.
Other precious metals
Other precious metals also recorded gains. Spot silver rose 0.4 percent to $63.95 per ounce, while platinum climbed 0.4 percent to $1,671.09 per ounce. Palladium posted a stronger increase, rising 2.9 percent to $1,248.45 per ounce as markets tracked wider commodity movements.
