DUBAI – The Pakistan Business Council Dubai brought together more than 100 members and business professionals for a Speed Networking Event in Dubai, creating a platform for entrepreneurs, companies and professionals to exchange ideas and explore new commercial opportunities.

Held this week at Dusit Thani Dubai, the gathering focused on direct business-to-business interactions and building relationships beyond existing professional circles.

The event also reflected the growing emphasis on stronger networks as Pakistani businesses seek to expand their presence in the UAE and wider regional markets.

The structured format gave participants the opportunity to introduce their businesses, identify potential clients and partners, exchange market insights and discuss areas where future collaboration could develop. Rather than relying on conventional introductions, the speed networking format allowed members to make multiple connections during the evening, bringing businesses from different sectors into the same conversation.

For Pakistani entrepreneurs operating in the UAE, such interactions can provide access to contacts, market knowledge and potential partnerships at a time when Dubai continues to serve as a major commercial hub connecting businesses with markets across the Gulf and beyond.

Speed Networking

Pakistan Business Council Dubai Chairman Muhammad Shabbir Merchant highlighted the organisation's focus on turning networking into practical business opportunities. He described PBC Dubai as a bridge between the Pakistani business community and the UAE's competitive business environment, saying its role extends to facilitating meaningful connections, promoting trade and investment opportunities and providing members with opportunities to learn, collaborate and grow.

Merchant has also called for greater emphasis on sector-specific B2B matchmaking, investment opportunities, trade delegations and market-access programmes. He said PBC Dubai wants to function as a practical business-support platform by facilitating introductions, sharing market knowledge, creating networking opportunities and encouraging partnerships between established companies and emerging entrepreneurs.

Those priorities were reflected in the Dubai gathering, where members were able to move beyond their existing networks and meet professionals they may not otherwise encounter through their regular business activities.

The event comes against a backdrop of expanding Pakistan-UAE commercial engagement. According to Trade and Investment Counsellor at the Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai, Ali Zeb Khan, total merchandise trade between Pakistan and the UAE crossed $10.5 billion during FY2025-26, while Pakistani exports to the UAE topped $2.1 billion. He has also highlighted the importance of Dubai's exhibitions, business councils and trade platforms in helping Pakistani companies find new partners and expand exports.

Khan has pointed to the UAE's position as a regional business and logistics hub and the role of business-to-business engagements in opening international markets for Pakistani companies. In August, he wrote that participation by Pakistani exporters in major Dubai exhibitions had created opportunities for new partnerships and successful B2B engagements, supported by trade missions, chambers and business councils operating in the UAE.

The Trade and Investment Counsellor also highlighted the importance of structured platforms that bring Pakistani businesses closer to international buyers and partners. At a Pakistan Business Council event last year, Khan had noted the UAE's role as one of Pakistan's key trade and investment partners and praised PBC's contribution to promoting bilateral economic ties.

The latest Speed Networking Event provided another setting for those connections to take place directly between members. Participants used the sessions to present their businesses, identify areas of mutual interest and discuss possible collaborations, while the informal exchanges continued during dinner after the structured networking programme.

The evening concluded with further conversations among members, extending the introductions made during the formal sessions and giving participants additional opportunities to exchange contacts and discuss potential business links.

The event also forms part of PBC Dubai's wider efforts to strengthen engagement within the Pakistani business community in the UAE, with the organisation's activities including networking, B2B opportunities, trade and investment forums, knowledge-sharing programmes and collaboration with chambers and business councils in Pakistan and the UAE.
