Abu Dhabi freezes rents for homes, offices and industrial units
New leases must match previous contract value
ABU DHABI – The UAE capital has announced a temporary rent freeze covering residential, commercial and industrial properties across the emirate, with the measure taking effect immediately.
The announcement was made by the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre on Tuesday, June 2.
Under the temporary policy, all tenancy contract renewals will be processed with a 0 percent increase, ensuring existing tenants continue to pay the same rent during the period of implementation.

Rent freeze
The measure also applies to new tenancy contracts for units that were previously rented. In such cases, landlords must offer the property at the same rental value as the preceding contract, preventing rent increases between successive tenants.
The Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre said the policy applies across residential, commercial and industrial sectors, providing uniform treatment for tenants and businesses throughout the emirate.
