DUBAI – Dubai has introduced a new rental affordability programme, ‘Flexi Rents’, designed to help tenants manage housing payments through more flexible arrangements.

The initiative, launched by the Dubai Land Department (DLD), allows residents to explore monthly rental payments, extended instalment options and other concessions. The move comes as Dubai continues efforts to support housing stability and improve the overall rental experience for residents.

Khalid Al Shaibani, Director of Rental Affairs Section at DLD, said the programme reflects Dubai’s focus on providing accessible rental solutions and supporting residents with more manageable payment structures.

Flexible plans

Under the first phase, DLD has partnered with 12 real estate companies to provide tenants with a range of benefits. These include monthly payment options, instalment plans extending up to 12 months, grace periods, adjusted payment schedules and, in some cases, waivers on rental increases.

The initiative is available for both new and existing tenants. Residents currently renting under annual or multiple-cheque agreements can request revised payment arrangements directly from participating landlords and property management firms.

The scheme also allows for the possibility of waiving certain administrative charges linked to delayed cheque payments. Tenants will be able to use different payment methods, including credit cards, debit cards and cheques.

Further initiatives

The programme will initially operate with the 12 participating companies before expanding across Dubai’s wider real estate market in phases.

Al Shaibani said further initiatives supporting the same goal of enhancing Dubai’s living environment are expected to be announced in the coming months.

DLD data shows that Dubai recorded nearly 1.2 million tenancy contracts last year, including both new rental agreements and renewals, highlighting the scale of the emirate’s residential rental market.
