Ras Al Khaimah launches free WiFi on all public and intercity bus routes
New onboard service aims to modernise commuting and boost rider satisfaction
DUBAI: Staying connected while commuting is no longer a challenge in Ras Al Khaimah.
In a major step toward digital transformation, the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has announced the availability of free high-speed WiFi across its entire fleet of public buses, including both intra-city and inter-city routes.
The service enables passengers to browse the web, stream content, check emails, or carry out daily tasks with uninterrupted internet access.
This latest move aligns with the authority’s strategy to enhance public transport facilities and improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. With this initiative, RAKTA aims to make public transport more attractive, functional, and technologically advanced.
Smarter commuting
Ismail Hassan Al Baloushi, Director General of RAKTA, highlighted that the initiative supports smart mobility goals. “By offering free onboard internet, we aim to make commuting more efficient and provide digital services that contribute to a better quality of life across the emirate,” he stated.
The introduction of WiFi is part of a series of smart services designed to elevate commuter satisfaction and encourage broader use of public transport.
Ongoing enhancements
The onboard internet system will be continuously monitored to ensure high-speed and reliable connectivity. RAKTA has confirmed that feedback and performance data will be used to make necessary enhancements, ensuring the service keeps pace with evolving user expectations.
